You may have already seen my card for this week's Whimsical Wednesday post over at the Whimsy blog but in case not I thought I would post it on my blog as well. I made this card using the fairy image again from The Character Cafe and now I am done making my fairy cards for my young nieces and they are using the same fairy so they can't argue over who gets which one tee  hee. I used some new Princess paper I picked up from my friend Sheila at Scrappingreatdeals.com and I thought it would be perfect for the little girl card I needed to make. I added a glitter flower which I have had for ages and one of my new crystal swirls. I would seriously put a crystal swirl on every single one of my cards if I could afford it. Now, I have already babbled your ear off today on the Whimsical Wed. blog so I am going to keep it short here except to again welcome my friend Krista to our group. I met Krista at our local LSS and just love her sweet personality and her gorgeous creations! So happy to have you wish us girl!

So hop on over to the challenge blog and then feast your eyes on what the rest of the team has made for you today.

Get your Whimsy on!

It's Wednesday so it's time to get your whimsy on! This week Jessica's son- Captain Jack- has issued a sketch challenge for us. Here is my take using Tulip from The Character Cafe- our March sponsors. I used my new Basic Grey paper (Green at heart), prima's and straight pins that I grabbed from Scrappingreatdeals last week. I know I am usually very chatty but I have a wicked cold and fever and my throat is too sore to talk. Which translates into my fingers are too tired to type too much lol. I have taken some pics to show you how I got my flowers to match and also a picture of what kept getting in my way while I was trying to take these pictures. I will let the pictures do the talking. Just look at him and explain to me why HE looks annoyed lol!! Click here to go to the challenge blog and I have also included all the names of the ladies who are participating in our dare this week on our DT. I can't wait to join  you in the hop and see what they have made!

More Whipper Snapper...A Dinner Journal

I am already back with more of my Whipper Snapper creations. I am telling you I went nuts with these new sets from Anna. It has been ages since I altered anything and I really saw this cute chickie and wanted to put him on a notebook of some sort. To help keep our food budget under control and to stop eating out because we don't know what to cook/nothing to cook we try to plan our weekly dinner schedule. We find we only buy what we need so saving $$ there plus the temptation to just grab something is significantly less. So hubby has endless scraps of paper with the week's meal plan on it that float around and I am never sure if I can throw it out- is it this week's or last week's? This book will not only keep it all in one place but we can also mark down how well it went over with the family. That way hubby knows when he scored a hit with us girls and if we would eat it again. Yep..you read that right- he does the cooking =).
I have been hoarding paper from Cosmo Cricket that just had the coolest retro vibe. I love this look! I found some Stampin Up patterned paper in Old Olive to cover the journal as it is a lightweight cardstock and easier to work with. I then used some of the Cosmo Cricket paper and some of the cut out tiles from that series (Early Bird). I coloured the chickie with my copics- if you would like to know the colours please let me know as they are still all over my desk so it's easy for me to get it lol!
Quick funny story. I have always loved the look that was big a few years back with tons of ribbons tied all over the place. It may not be used much now but I still love that look. So instead of using my ribbon on spools I thought I should use some of the ribbon scraps I have been saving since I started crafting. You wouldn't believe how many times I screamed across the craft table at one of my friends "You are NOT throwing out that ribbon piece are you??????". My friends would look at me questioning my sanity as I would snatch the small piece of ribbon from their fingers or fish it out of the trash. I would get hives and all sweaty while saying "Look at the size of this scrap- I can do something with it". But I never did. Never. So I have a massive container of ribbon bits. I pulled it out last night and it was amazing all the cool pieces I found. Stuff I didnt' even know I had or where I got it from. I even found some of my favourite retired In Colour ribbon from SU that I no longer owned. It was like Christmas in March. So much so that I was humming a Christmas carol lol. While I was busy at my table with my ribbon bits I realized someone else was humming the Christmas carol right along with me. My daughter's kitten. He had found the container on the floor and was rolling in it having a great ole time. As much as I hated taking away his March Christmas I plucked him out and had to put it away. Silly cat might swallow it- you can't trust him lol. At least he had a few minutes of pure bliss before I noticed lol!
Cheers...Andrea

I can finally share my last secret...I am a Featured Designer for Whipper Snapper!!

Phew......thank goodness I could finally let this one out of the bag. I was bursting to share this news as those of you who have followed me for awhile know that Whipper Snapper stamps are one of my huge faves and I am always on the hunt to find some. In fact, if you click here to go to my 2010 resolutions post I had set a goal to design for Whipper Snapper. I had even featured a Whipper Snapper card on that post - it must have brought me luck! One day I received an email from Anna Wight on facebook after she saw a Whipper Snapper card from their facebook fan gallery. She asked me to email her and after I did she sent me an email asking if I would like to work with her stamps for 2 months? Ummm...yes. I have to say I felt like my chest was going to burst with happiness! What an honour!
I have created many cards, etc with Anna's March release including the cards you see here today. For these cards I used her Beautiful Day set. Click here to see that set and also her other release this month Think Happy Thoughts. I kept these cards sweet and simple like the sweet clean images of this set. One thing I love about this set is the 'stitched' look to these cute images. It even enticed me to sew on my card..you will have to look close to see it. I got out my sewing machine and nervously sewed my layers together. My husband came over and checked my forehead for a fever because 'apparently he hadn't seen me use the expense sewing machine he bought me 8 years ago before and was worried I was spiking a fever'. Nice tee hee.
I also want to share that some other lucky ladies are joining me for the next 2 months featuring creations made with Anna's new releases. I have included their names below in case you want to hop to their blogs or splitcoast galleries.

The second card I am sharing took me hours to make. I know...I know...but it's so simple. That bird went on 5 cards before I made one that gave it the clean look I wanted. I paper pieced the image and to frame it I tried to make those paper flowers everyone is doing. It's only my first attempt so I can forgive myself for how it looks tee hee. I asked my hubby what he thought of my cards and he said...wait for it..."I don't know". W.H.A.T.!!!! He explained to my shocked face that he wasn't used to seeing white on my cards. My cards are usually very busy and full of doodads. He really liked these cards but just wasn't used to seeing the white space. I explained to him that with these images I didn't want them to get lost and really wanted the image to be the focal point. I started to explain more but then realized he was pretending to listen but was really off daydreaming about UFC or something. Same thing I do when he talks to me about stuff I really don't want to hear. Bless him for pretending to listen and care- really that's all I can ask for lol! Hope you have a great day and keep checking back here for more WhipperSnapper cards over the next 2 months- woot woot!!! It`s an eyelet challenge and announcing my blog candy winner!

Michele, one of incredibly talented Krafty Girls, is the hostess for our challenge this week. I adore Michele and her creative style and I am not going to lie..I have had a craft crush on her for ages tee hee. I was so excited to see what she would challenge us to do and when she said eyelets I have to be honest..did I even still have any? How many of us when we first started crafting went eyelet CRAZY! I did and after hammering and smashing them into my scrapbook pages and cards I stopped using them after ruining many a page with a badly done eyelet. Thankfully the cropadile came along and made it super sweet but still I was eyelet shy. So when I started thinking of what to make I first had to see if I had any and lo and behold I found these beauties from Stampin Up. I love these huge metal eyelets! I hadn't used Polly the Bar Wench yet and I while I sat there designing my card (aka playing farmville on facebook while thinking of card designs) I was mulling over bar wench and a corset came to mind. I love the look of the corsets in the period movies I see but I can tell you I wouldn't last 2 mins in one in real life. To make this card I started with a large 6x6 card base. I then cut my patterned paper to a 5.75x5.75 square and then cut it in half. I took the two pieces and cut them at the same time to ensure they would be exactly the same size. Now...I got a wee bit racy here and found some flesh coloured paper (Blush blossom by SU) and used it underneath my corset to give it more of the look I wanted. I punched my holes, added eyelets and laced it up. I cut Miss. Polly out to help her stand out more against the design of the card. And the sentiment I chose...well I just couldn't resist tee hee! I hope you like her.
To play along why don't you click here to go to the challenge blog and read more about how you can play along for the next 2 weeks instead of our normal 1 week and win a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp. Also...you have to check out the outstanding creations the rest of the ladies made using eyelets this week to help get your mojo flowing. These ladies always blow my mind with their style and creativity.
And..as promised I used random.org to help find my winner for my blog candy- Miss Lola DaVinci. The magic number is 30 and the winner is .....
Knerten said...I am a follower because I love your work, and this little girl is just a cutie ! Thanks for the chance to win, pls count me in :-)
Congratulations Turid (aka. Knerten) please contact me with your mailing info and I will get this out to you asap!
I will be back with more blog candy soon to share with my amazing followers!

It's time for another 'All things Unity" post and challenge

It's time for our second inspirational challenge at the 'All Things Unity' blog and we are going green! I have to say it was so much fun going to all the artist's cards who played along with us on our first challenge. I finally finished up seeing all of them and they were great!

To go green on this card I used a scrap card base I had kicking around and all kinds of American Crafts paper scraps I cut into thin strips and randomly glued along the front of the card. I played with this sweet Unity butterfly stamp and used Old Olive ink to match the paper and cardstock - well pretty darn close anyway lol! I usually colour when I stamp but sometimes it is so fun (and fast) to just ink- stamp- and go! when making a card. It's simple but nice and full of springiness I think...I also think I may  have just made up a new word. Pass it on.
Here is the challenge if you wish to play along:
Going Green -
By going green you can do it by three ways
You can make your project green
You can use recycled materials in your project
You can use only scraps in your project
Or you can be truly adventurous all do all the above!!
Show us your Green side
To see all the lovely creations for this week's challenge from the DT click here to go to the challenge blog and read all about it! And if you haven't already go through the comments from our first challenge and see what inspirational cards were made last time- just lovely!

Angry (but cute) Ballerina

**Click here for my Kraftin' Kimmie stamp blog candy**

I know I know...she is stinkin' cute! Having two girls I have seen this look many many times myself. My youngest daughter was watching me type up this post tonight and is in LOVE with this stamp. She collects pigs as her favourite Disney character is Piglet from Winnie the Pooh. I coloured her with my copics and used some new paper and sticker embellishments I picked up from scrappingreatdeals with her in mind. I added beads to my card as that is this week's challenge over at the challenge blog. I haven't played with beads in a long time so this challenge was fun and a great excuse to go through my stash and see what I have. I used red sticky strip to create the adhesive for my beads then just poured them on and mashed them into the tape. Voila! Hop on over to the challenge blog to find out the rest of the details of the challenge and to see the rest of the DT creations. They are beautiful! Have a great day! Andrea

Let's do lunch

**If you haven't entered yet for my blog candy please see the post below this one to leave a comment and win!**
Today I am back with my second sneak peek using a Cindy and Mindy image. I have used 'Let's do lunch' which comes with the saying 'Let's do lunch' (tee hee obviously eh..hee hee) and a second image 'You're So Sweet' which is the one I used on my card today. I coloured these cuties up with my copics and used papers from Imaginisce and American Crafts. I added some crystals but other than that I wanted the cool paper to show through.

I had a request to share the trick I learned from Kimmie yesterday- shading with the nestabilities. This one's for you Jenn J. First cut and emboss the image with your nestie I then took the image leaving my nestie still in place and started rubbing pigment ink around the inside rim of the nestie. I have some fingertip sponges and you dab it in the ink then sponge some of it off on scrap paper. Starting on the inner rim using small circles and swipes start moving the ink around keeping the darker part of the ink to the rim and as my sponge has less ink as I moved it along the edge I would then start moving it towards the image so it would have the faded look. Does that make sense? I may try to make a video. An important tip is to hold your nestie in place firmly. I actually taped my in place wrapping tape from the front of my nestie to the back of my image. Phew...I'm exhausted again just typing it out.

While I rest and have another cup of tea why not go to the challenge blog and click on all the links to see what the other Krafty girls have crafted up for their sneak peeks today. Have a great day!

Meet Daphne from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps- sneak peek and some blog candy!

I know it was just last week that KK stamps tempted your wallet with the incredible tea party release but now its time to start the sneak peeks for our regular monthly release. I know- cruel eh! It's okay to eat Kraft Dinner for one more week instead of steak to pick up these schweet stamps. KIDDING!!! Maybe... Okay, I am tempting your tastebuds today with one of the stunning fairies being offered in this release. Her name is Daphne and I am in love with these lovely ladies!!! I coloured her with my copics and used my Peachy Keen paper pack from Kaiser craft and also some flowers from Kaiser's matching embellishment pack. I had this ribbon from my phase of buying every single American Craft ribbon package I could find. Still love that ribbon tee hee.

I have to thank Kimmie for help with this card. I wanted to learn how to do the shading around the edges of the nestie and the image is so wonderfully large it took a bit of searching to find one that would fit. Kimmie found this size nestie that would work and pointed out that if I did the fancy thing where I cut out a part of the wings I could actually use this one nestabilitie to cut it out. Okay. So of course I pretend I know exactly what she is talking about (with my hours logged blog surfing I should be an expert on all crafting matters =) and start cutting wildly. Which of course means I cut too far down. I make my eyes all puppy like and whimpering hand her my fairy to fix. Which of course she does. And because I cut way to far down so she had to cut a second layer to tape behind the first one to fix it. Then I made her do all my outside shading so I could 'watch and learn'. And she did it without pinching me which is what I would have done to her so I was very grateful tee hee. Thanks to Diana and Kimmie for another one of our fun days. My throat hurts when I leave and I am sure their ears hurt from all the listening. **not sure if you know this about me but I talk a.lot.*

So please head on over to the challenge blog to see what other new release stamps the girls are showing today. I will have another teaser tomorrow and Saturday then Sunday is the blog hop- yippee!

Oh I almost forgot...I have some blog candy! Okay didn't really forget just a dramatic pause. How about a KK stamp? I have one of my fave crafty Annie images- Lola DaVinci! Leave a comment on this post and I will draw a winner on March 19th. Please make sure you leave either your email addy or I can click on your pic/name to take me to a way to contact you in case you win. Please spread the word and don't forget to comment to win!

Whimsical Wednesday challenge #26

This week's Whimsical Wednesday the Diedrich daredevils were challenged to use the Alice in Wonderland picture above and create a card. I just saw the movie and absolutely loved it! I adored the book as a child and I remember reading it at such a young age that quite a bit of it was over my head- especially when the caterpillar was talking. I had to reread it as I got older to appreciate the lyrical dialogue more and the visualizations in the story. Johnny Depp was of course fantastic and I have to admit I stared at his make up throughout the film lol.

This month's sponsors are The Character Cafe so I used their Bad KittE digi image to show a girly naughty cat. This digi actually comes with a second image with the fish tail hanging out of her mouth lol ;). I experimented quite a bit while colouring this image. I even tried to get the teal fur worked in. Not sure how well I succeeded but I know my niece will love it when she receives it. She was sent the first card I made with this image and I know she will love seeing it again as she is such a cat lover.

Us Daredevils are excited about having another fabulous sponsor this month-don't forget it's CONTEST time on the DARE blog, folks! ONE LUCKY WINNER will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the TCC store to choose some cutie patootie digis! So head on over to the DARE blog now and see how you can enter to win!

Don't forget to stop by the rest of the Daredevils to see how they were inspired by the Cheshire Cat picture.

Have a great Whimsical Wednesday! Cheers, Andi

Tea Party blog hop- chance to win some stamps!

This release has had to be my favourite yet. I am a huge Alice fan and sweet Gabrielle reminds me of Alice and tea- not sure if I have mentioned it before but I am a massive tea addict. I drink a couple cups a day. I can't function until my second tea in the morning and then I have another around 2pm to make it through the rest of my day. I collect tea stamps of any kind. I didn't want to say this before but I am 99% sure Kimmie cooked up this release just for me. Don't say anything to her because I don't want her to be put on the spot and deny it otherwise she may feel like she has to do a 'special release' for each of the DT. Okay...maybe not just for me but also for her mom Diana who is also a fan of tea. So the Spring Release is really the 'Diana and Andrea my two favourite people who are fans of tea' special release. Realizing how much of a mouthful that is I can't blame her for just going with Spring release ;).
This card uses one of the many accessory stamps that come with the kit- 5 in total actually. I wanted to show how just an accessory stamps and an saying can make a sweet quick card. This card is from myself and Diana to Kimmie (who is an avid coffee drinker) to thank her for the special release she won't admit is for us. Thank you Kimmie- from the bottom of our hearts tee hee.
I have pasted the other DT names below for today's blog hop to help you hop on your way. If you are already hopping along next stop is the incredible Melanie (who I asked Kimmie to never put me after- you will see what I mean....). Don't forget to leave a comment at each blog as we don't know whose blog the lucky comment's winner will be on. There will be 2 lucky winners for this hop and they will receive some of the Tea Party images and accessories. Nice!!! Now the Tea Party set is only available for a limited time and at the discounted price. It can only be purchased at the Kraftin' Kimmie store. Well...I am off to drink a cup of tea. Have a wonderful day!

Kraftin' Kimmie challenge- use something old....and an Alice challenge

Ahhh...it's finally Gabrielle's turn to come out to play. Don't tell the other folks but she tells me they saved the best for last. I am talking for Gabrielle as she is a little hoarse from playing a long wild game of croquet. It's also time for our weekly challenge and it is to use something old from your stash. To me old means as soon as the bag gets placed in my craft room and I am lusting after my next purchase tee hee. Who's with me, right ladies!!! I used some of my old SU paper from a 6x6 pack. With the release of Alice in Wonderland with the INCREDIBLE Johnny Depp (again- who's with me ladies!) I wanted to do the card in black, white and red in honour of a deck of cards. The croquet game in the book just blew my mind as a child. Speaking of Alice....(nice segue Andrea lol) a stamping friend of mine Jessica ( one of my craft crushes :) has a new challenge blog focused on Alice inspired challenges. This week is a colour challenge and you can click here to go see the inspiration. I will admit it was out of my comfort zone completely but once it was all pulled together I really like it, I hope you do too.

KKS stamps spring kit preview day 4!

Bonjour, Je m'appelle Lisette. I am so happy to be meeting you today. It has been so hard waiting for my turn, I thought this day would never come. Mind you I get to eat this cake endlessly so it hasn't been too bad. Only one of my of my friends left for you to meet! I hope you have enjoyed the sneak peeks of the KKS spring kit. While I finish up this cake why don't you pop on over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT has made to show me off today. Au Revoir!

New Challenge Blog- All Things Unity

So I have been sitting on a couple of secrets and now I can finally let another one out. Phew it's hard to keep happy secrets in lol! My friend Sara who shares my love of Unity stamps has started a new challenge blog called 'All Things Unity' where every 2 weeks we will post a new challenge where we hope to help inspire you with different ways to use your Unity stamps. For our first challenge Sara asked us to make something that made you think of sunshine. That's rainbows to me. I have a few rainbow stamps from Unity but this is one I hadn't used yet from a kit of the month a few back(Aug 09). It also came with this GREAT saying- happy day- from Unity so this card is perfect for so many card giving occasions. When I actually give one away that is ;). Also on the team are Ashley, Kyra and Ryann. So, I hope my card gave you sunshiney thoughts and grab a tea and hop on over to the ATU blog to get some more rays. Oh and before I forget Sara has a prize up for grabs for those playing along with our first challenge. Wish I could win tee hee.

KKS stamps Spring Kit preview- day 3- Oh Henry-you sly dog you!

Howya, wot's yer story there? The name is Henry. I was born in Eire and I am spending some time here having a right ole' craic. It's been donkey's years since I had been round to a good hooley. It was enough to put you off the drink. When I am just knackered from drinking the black stuff there is nothing like a proper cuppa to start the day out right along with proper fry-up. Well, I am off to grab a kip after a full night of charmin' the lasses. Why don't you hop on over to the shop and check out what the lovely lassies have made today whilst you wait for your tea to get wet. Right then, bye bye bye

(Thank you to Card Patterns for this sketch and congrats on their one year anniversary)

Day two of peeks for Kraftin' Kimmie's spring special release

**Please note this is my second post today, scroll down for my Whimsical Wednesday post**
Oi, here for a spot o'tea are ya? Well you have come to the right place. I'd be your serving girl Giselle and I would be happy to bring round a pot. You like my outfit do you? It is massive! I got it over on High Street- a shop called Kraftin' Kimmie and me girl Andrea gave it colour to match the decor here. She was inspired by something called 'Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab'. Cor blimey that girl is always searching for a new look.
Sounds like you are from over the pond....where'ya from then? Lovely, I've cousins over in Canada meself. Lovely country is it. Mind you, you have funny words for lorry, the loo and chips. I can't help but laugh at how you butcher our language. I am hoping to be moving over there meself one day but you never know. You know what I always say "life is like a cup of tea...it's all in how you make it". Now how would you be making yours today? I'm not normally one to gossip but I hope you don't have it like Mr. Kimmie- Mrs. Kimmie's old ball and chain there. He takes his tea with cream! Shocking I know. Let's keep that on the QT though, don't want that getting round.
I heard you met a friend of mine yesterday- she's lovely ain't she. Come back tomorrow and you can meet our mate - he's a sly dog that one. Always charmin' the ladies. Well, I see it's picking up- folks are bringing in the fam' for their tea. Before you go head on over here to see what else has been brewed up today for your pleasure. Enjoy and come back soon!

Whimsical Wednesday- it's sketchy time

This month the Daredevils are sponsored by The Character Cafe who makes cute digi images! I used the lovely sketch by Madelynn (you can see it below) and Fairy Belle from TCC. I used some of my new paper from American crafts and I was inspired by the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab for this card and the one in the post above. I have also included a pic of the copic colours I used. Feel free to click on it for a closer look.

If you want a chance at this and other stamps they have, you could win $10 worth and trust me that could be quite a bit. How to win? You can upload to an online gallery using keyword DDSC25 but don’t forget to go to the Whimsical Dare blog to put it in the Mr. Linky list. If you hit my blog first head on over to the Whimsical Wednesday blog to get started or keep on hopping through the links below to see more creations by my fellow daredevils- they just rock!

In this Spring Kit you receive 5 main images, 5 accessories and 2 sets of coordinating tea and coffee sentiments (32 phrases in total)! My name is Nadine and I am available in the shop today. But remember, I am only a limited time offer.....and I can only be purchased at the Kraftin' Kimmie stamps shop.
You may be wondering where my friends are, the other four main images? You may also be inquiring as to why I am the only one shown today? Well, our shopkeeper Miss. Kimmie is a cheeky lass and she is only letting us out one per day to give us each the warm welcome we so richly deserve.
I would also love to give a sweet thank you to Friday Sketchers for the design of my card today. My artist, Andrea- found it online here and it suited me perfectly, don't you think.
So head on over to the challenge blog to see what else the lovely DT has made with my scrumptious image and we can get this tea party started. I bid you farewell and hope to see you tomorrow to meet the next one of my guests at my tea party.
Cheerio, Nadine
